Blast off!!!
Today Year 4 have been learning all about the space race currently between India and Russia.
We learnt how India have managed to land a rocket on the Lunar South Pole but Russias unmanned spacecraft crashed trying to land. We learnt why they are trying to get to the lunar South Pole as this was something that was confusing us. The Lunar South Pole is thought to have water in the form of ice making it possible to build settlement there. It is also thought to have oil which would help rockets that are flying on to Mars.
We looked at the space race history and how it began between America and Russia in 1957.
Exploring space can be exciting and helps us to learn more about the universe. We have a responsibility to consider the impact space exploration may have and manage any risks involved. This is our individual liberty!
